Faking Tropical

It's that time of year again! Time for Boot Camp!We were so excited to co-host a weekend full of fun for Miss New York USA and Miss Maryland USA along with Michelle Holmes, the official coach and Hernan Rivera, the official makeup artist, for two of D&D's Miss USA states! We did the usual things involved in prepping contestants for the national stage: mock interviews, walking lessons, makeup classes, and, our favorite (of course!), photo shoots! After the "official" stuff wrapped up on Saturday, the women decided to step outside of their comfort zones and do some swimwear photos. The problem? It was snowing. And cold. And, we're in the Midwest, with no beach or ocean for thousands ...

We have had some incredible opportunities as headshot photographers over the last few years, but being asked to shoot an international contestant for the first time has got to be one of the highlights!Cecelie came all the way from Denmark for a fantastic photo shoot on her way to Las Vegas for the Miss Universe pageant. AND, she brought her wings with her! Giant swan wings custom made for her by a designer in her home country that were nearly as tall as the 6 foot beauty herself! Miss Denmark's national costume for Miss Universe payed homage to national icon, Hans Christian Anderson, and one of his most famous fairy tales, The Ugly Duckling.  So, we get the "official" costume ...

Barbie Boot Camp! It isn't for the weak. We had a blast co-hosting a camp for the titleholders from New York USA and Maryland USA! Together with Michelle Holmes, owner of Prepare to Win and Hernan Rivera, owner of Sin Cosmetics, we hosted a non-stop weekend of fantastic pageant prep! The titleholders participated in mock interviews, had lessons in stage presence and got awesome makeup tutorials. In between, they had tons of photos taken! Its always eye opening hearing personal stories. Some of these girls endured years of heartache, financial struggles, family problems. One even withstanding a mother's death. Their personal histories all have this incredible connected thread, ...

Faking Tropical

Well. Its the beginning of the end. It was a bittersweet weekend for us. This weekend, Adam's brother and my dear friend walked down the aisle and joined hands. We couldn't be happier for them. Last weekend was also special in that it marked the beginning of our wedding season...our last wedding season. For 14 years, we have been a part of the happiest day of over 250 couples' lives. 258, I believe, if I counted correctly. I've loved every moment. There is something special about being a part of pure happiness. Not everyone gets to go to work and witness pure joy. We have been extremely lucky. Now, after a decade of witnessing other people's beginnings, we embark on our OWN new ...

Faking Tropical

We have recently relocated to Jackson, MO! Both Adam and I are originally from Southern Illinois, and after a brief stay in Cape Girardeau, we have decided to plant roots in Jackson. We have to say, we love this town! Everyone has been very welcoming, and we absolutely love our neighborhood and new home. If this is your first visit to our website, we welcome you! As you can see from the website, our focus is on portraits. We specialize in high school senior photography and pageant headshots. Pageant headshots and senior portraits? Yes. Seems like an odd combination at first, we know. But, we really feel that the two specializations really work well together. Our experience with ...
