We live in the midwest, miles away from the nearest ocean. We really don't even have a lake nearby. So when we decided to do some swimwear shots for our Miss Maryland USA and Miss New York USA titleholders while they were visiting, we really had to improvise.
I should mention it was in the dead of winter. And snowing. And the only body of water for what seems like a million miles that didn't have ice floating in it was the Holiday Inn swimming pool.
It wasn't fancy. But it was handy. And the employees and managers at the hotel were kind enough to let us in after hours so that we could shoot in privacy.
We really had to improvise. No cool beach chairs or sand or palm trees. Just some water in an indoor pool area that could double as a sauna. It was hot, y'all.
Swimsuits seemed a little boring, and completely expected. They're great on a beach, but not so much in a swimming pool. So out with the swimwear and in with the street clothes! Christina wore one of my blouses, and Serena threw on a black sweater. It sounded a little crazy when I asked them to slip them on in lieu of a swimsuit, but they are trusting souls!
And with the help of Hernan Rivera, who worked his makeup magic, we pulled off some really edgy, completely unexpected photos! You would never know these were taken at the Holiday Inn!
